Chelsea 1-2 Barcelona

Chelsea's Champions League hopes hang by a thread after Barcelona condemned them to defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Asier del Horno was sent off after 36 minutes for a foul on Lionel Messi - but Thiago Motta's own goal gave Chelsea the lead after the break.
Barcelona pinned Chelsea back and John Terry headed Ronaldinho's free-kick past Petr Cech with 20 minutes left.

Terry cleared off the line from Henrik Larsson and Ronaldinho before Samuel Eto'o headed home after 80 minutes.

Barcelona's attacking brilliance deserved the victory, and now Jose Mourinho's side face a massive task to turn the tie around in the second leg at the Nou Camp. link

Other result of the night saw the gunners get a valuable win from the so called Galaticos link

bobslbobeigh
Imagine sitting in a small metal pod, flying around 90 degree bends at 95mph, just inches away from a frozen surface harder than concrete.
That should give you some idea why bobsleigh has been dubbed Formula One on ice.
It is hair-raising stuff, with teams of two or four launching a sled down an icy course and trying to steer the quickest path as they hurtle towards the finish.
In bobsleigh, every hundredth of a second counts, and sled designs are constantly evolving in an attempt to squeeze that extra bit of speed out of every run. bobsleigh has two-man and four-man events. Women compete in teams of two.
Bobsleigh made its Olympic debut in 1924, but the women's event was not introduced until Salt Lake City in 2002
Event guide: Luge
A two-man (or woman) team consists of a driver and brakeman, and the four-man event adds two more team members, who provide extra pushing power at the start.
The crew start by pushing the sled for about 50m. This is a crucial part of the run as it generates the speed which the bob will carry down the course.
A 0.1sec advantage at the start can grow into a 0.3sec advantage at the finish.
After the push, the crew jump into the bob and tuck low to reduce wind resistance as the driver tries to steer the best line to the finish.
Any contact with the walls of the course can cut speed dramatically.
The brakeman's only duty beyond the explosive start is applying the sled brakes at the end of the run.
In Olympic competition, there are four timed runs.
The starting order is drawn on the basis of different merit groups decided by the results achieved by the teams in the previous World Cup.
After the four runs, the team with the fastest overall time wins. In the case of a draw, there are two winners.
If the sled overturns, but all members of the team pass the finish line inside the sled, the descent is considered valid.
WHAT IS A BOBSLEIGH?
The hull (or cowling) of the bobsleigh is made of fibreglass and steel and is open at the rear to allow team members to board and sit down.
The bob sits on two independent sets of steel runners and the steering is operated by the driver using a system of pulleys controlled by two handles.
There are handles on both sides of the hull to allow the athletes to push at the start, and these retract once the team members have jumped in.
There are minimum width restrictions for the cowling and spoilers of the bob, and overall weight limits also apply.
The top sled weight in women's bob, with crew and equipment combined, is 350kg.
In the men's events, the two-man maximum is 390kg and the four-man maximum is 630kg.
Given the high speeds involved in bobsleigh, crash helmets are a must and the athletes are also allowed to wear spiked shoes to help with grip at the start.

CLASH OF THE TITANS:
Chelsea vs Barcelona
As the knock out phase of the UEFA champions league begins one fixture that comes to mind is that between chealsea poupularly known as the blues against Barcelona also known as the catalans who carries the day will depend on the mental fitness of the players and also on the technical crew of both teams.
Futhermore, Reports have it that this fixture FC Barcelona and Chelsea FC will be the most confused as the leaders in Spain and England endure rare blips. Barça's single-goal defeat by Valencia CF on Sunday was their third in five games and saw their Primera División lead cut to six points. Still 12 points clear of nearest rivals Manchester United FC, Chelsea's advantage is less precarious, yet José Mourinho suffered his worst defeat since arriving in London at the weekend, 3-0 at Middlesbrough FC.

Welsh stunned by Ruddock's exit

Mike Ruddock's decision to quit as national coach has been greeted with disbelief across Wales.
Ex-Wales star Jonathan Davies told BBC Radio Five Live: "What's happened has been a shock to everyone. I don't think anyone really knows what's happened.
"If it is for personal reasons you've got to respect that.
"But knowing Mike I don't think he walks away from any challenges and I think a lot of things will come out in the next couple of weeks."
Ruddock said his departure as coach was down to family reasons.
There have been suggestions that Ruddock - described by Davies as "a proud and honest man" - was eased out by player power, and also that he had fallen out with the WRU management over contract talks.

Egypt win Cup after penalty drama

Egypt won the African Cup of Nations for a record fifth time by beating Ivory Coast 4-2 on penalties after a goalless draw in the final in Cairo.
Goalkeeper Essam Al Hadary was the hero for the hosts, saving two penalty kicks, while Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba and Bakary Kone missed theirs.

The match ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, with Drogba missing the Ivorians' best chance in regulation time.

Mohammed Aboutrika scored the winning penalty for the North Africans.

But Egypt's Pharaohs could have won it in extra-time had their captain Ahmed Hassan not struck the post after being awarded one of the most controversial penalties in Nations Cup history.
