McClaren handed England job
Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren has been confirmed as the new England manager by the FA. The appointment comes 99 days after current boss Sven Goran Eriksson announced he will quit his post with England after the 2006 World Cup in Germany. McClaren has signed a four-year contract that will commence on August 1st after the fifa world cup.
The comeback victories against FC Basle and Steaua Bucharest earned a place in the final against Sevilla in Eindhoven - beyond the wildest dreams of all Boro fans.
It was probably the factor which swayed the FA in McClaren's favour ahead of Sam Allardyce
Mc Claren whose team Middlesbrough is currently in the final of the ongoing champions league will try to leave the team on a positive note.
